Title Brand: Look at the very top of the report. Under "Title Brands," you will see a permanent notation for "Lemon Law" or "Manufacturer Buyback."

Detailed History: Scroll to the "Detailed History" section. Look for an entry titled "Vehicle repurchased by manufacturer" or "Vehicle reacquired."

Ownership Changes: Sudden ownership changes within the first year or very low-mileage transfers back to a "Manufacturer" (instead of a dealer) are major red flags. When you're looking at a Carfax report, look for the red alerts, as seen in the examples below.
